Auto-registering a Student for a Course

Follow

Auto-registration is 1 of 2 course-registration methods you can choose to utilize for a course that is open for registration. Each method provides a different student course registration experience. The two methods are:

  1. Auto-registration
  2. Self-registration

In this article, we look at the auto-registration method in detail. Visit this article for more information on the self-registration process.

Why auto-register a student for a course?

The auto-registration method provides a seamless experience where the student bypasses the course details page where they would typically have to select the "Register" or "Purchase" button.

Auto-registration methods

There are two different auto-registration methods, depending on the desired student experience.

1. Direct the student to the Course Overview

When using this option, you can provide a unique link to your student.  When the student visits the link, the student is taken directly to the sign-in/sign-up page --> then to the Course Overview page.

Here is an example of what this link might look like:

Once the student signs-in/signs-up, they will land directly on the Course Overview page, where they can select a lesson to navigate to.

To use this option, you'll need the link to the course Register button. Here are the steps to get the link:

  1. Navigate to the course detail page, and right click your cursor on top of the Register (or purchase) button.

  2. Once you've right clicked, select "Copy link address". This is the link you can provide to students.

2. Direct the student to a specific lesson

This option allows students to bypass the Course Details Page as well. Once a student visits this link, the student is taken to the sign-in/sign-up page --> then to a specific lesson within the course.

Here is an example of what this link might look like:

Once the student signs-in/signs-up, they will land directly on the lesson page.

To use this option, you'll need to provide students with a special link to the lesson page. Here are the steps to get the link:

  1. Sign in to the course
  2. Navigate to the lesson you wish to direct a student to
  3. When you are on the lesson page, note the URL in your browser

  4. Append "?reg=1" to the end of the URL from your browser. Using the example in the screen shot above, the final URL would be:
