Strategic Insights, in the Skilljar dashboard, compares your organization’s training data against other Skilljar customers and industry trends. You can also use this page to compare your current metrics against your own previous data over the last 12 months. These metrics provide valuable insight into training performance that can be used for reporting as well as to improve your training curriculum. Comparing your training against your peers can lead to smarter key performance indicators and show your leadership where your program is compared to the industry.

Overview
You can access the Strategic Insights page from your Skilljar dashboard, by expanding the Analytics header on the left and selecting Strategic Insights.

Our Strategic Insights metrics are an aggregation of data from all of our customer’s training sites and are used to create success standards across the industry. Strategic Insights is updated monthly and compares your organization’s training to other Skilljar customers, using three different segments:
- Skilljar Global - the global average of all Skilljar customers.
- Learner Audience Size - based on the yearly number of learners. This is broken into three groups:
- Small: Under 1,000 learners
- Medium: More than 1,000 learners
- Large: More than 10,000 learners.
- Program Age - based on the time since your training program’s launch date. This is broken into three groups:
- Less than one year.
- More than one year.
- More than three years.
When you first access the Strategic Insights page, Skilljar Global will be the default view. Select the header and then the metric and size you’d like to view to see the other segments.
- Note: All customers have the ability to compare their data to Skilljar's Global benchmarks. Additional benchmarks, such as audience size and program maturity, may also be available depending on your subscription plan with Skilljar.

Strategic Insights Metrics
There are three metrics within the Strategic Insights page, which are used as benchmarks to compare your data against other Skilljar customers' averages:
- Average completion rate.
- Average number of enrollments per learner.
- Average Session time per learner.
You can compare your own averages against these benchmarks for the last 30 days and see how you’re trending along those same metrics for the previous 12 months.
You can view your averages across your organization as a whole or filter by specific domains by selecting the Domains dropdown, and the domain name(s) of your choice. This is especially useful if you have varying objectives and audiences for different domains.
To go back to the default view, select Reset Filters.
Completion rate
This tab shows how many learners have finished a course within 30 days. It shows the latest trend in the gauge chart and how this metric is trending for the past 12 months.
Course Completion Rate
This is your average 30-day completion rate as of today. The average on the left is the aggregated course completion percentage of other Skilljar customers, and the right is your average. The second number in parenthesis is the difference in percentage points between your average and the benchmark.
Course Completion Rate Trend
This bar chart shows an average 30-day course completion rate for each month and provides a picture of the trend over the previous year. The blue line represents the industry average and the green bar is your average. You can see the exact numbers by hovering your mouse over each bar.
Enrollments Per Learner
This is the average number of enrollments per learner over the last 30 days and one year. You can use these metrics for purposes such as creating an understanding of how many courses a learner typically enrolls in. Depending on the results, you may or may not want to increase the number and take action to engage learners more.
Learner Enrollments
This chart is the average enrollments per learner today compared to the benchmark over the last 30 days. The blue chart on the left is the industry benchmark percentage, and the green chart on the right is your average. You can see the exact numbers by hovering your mouse over each bar.
Learner Enrollments Trend
This bar chart shows the average number of enrollments per learner by each month and provides a picture of the trend over the last year. The blue line represents the industry average and the green bar is your average. You can see the exact numbers of each month by hovering your mouse over each bar.
Learner Session Time
This is the average session time per learner over the last 30 days and one year and is measured in hours and minutes. This metric can be used to see how much time learners spend consuming training content.

FAQ
How often is the benchmark data updated?
The benchmark data is static and updated within the first five business days of each month.
What does "total annual learners" mean?
Total annual learners are the total of all monthly active users (MAUs) added up.
Why does my Analytics Manager not see strategic insights?
The strategic insights page is only available to global admins because it contains only program-level insights, which are intended to help diagnose problems and formulate KPIs for a team.
