How do I embed content into a lesson?

You can embed many different types of content into a lesson. In this article we identify two ways to embed content.

Option 1: Embed by link

Easily embed the following content by just pasting the link to your content into a lesson.

Videos

  • YouTube (or Google Hangouts on Air recording)
  • Kaltura
  • Vimeo
  • Ooyala
  • Wistia
  • Vidyard
  • Brightcove

Google content

  • Google doc
  • Google form
  • Google groups
  • Google presentation

Other content

  • SurveyMonkey
  • Any website

Steps to embedding

  1. Copy the link to your content
  2. Login to your instructor dashboard
  3. Navigate to the course and lesson that you would like to embed content in
  4. Select "Video, PDF, Audio or Embed" in Content section (should be selected by default)
  5. Click on the Embed link tab
  6. Select the content type from the "Type" dropdown
  7. Paste the link to your content in the "Url" field
  8. Click Save URL
  9. Click Save Lesson

 

Option 2: Embed as text lesson

Follow these instructions if your content is not included in the "Embed link" dropdown.

  1. Copy the embed link to your content
  2. Navigate to the course and lesson that you would like to embed content in
  3. Select "Text" in the Content section
  4. Click your cursor into the text box to make the toolbar appear
  5. Select the Source Code button (<>)
  6. Paste the embed link into the Source code box and click "Ok"
  7. Click Save Lesson
  8. Click on the Embed link tab

Using style tags

If you’d like to include style tags, we’ve attached a template for you.

Below are the steps to follow when using the template. 

  1. Download the attached file Template - Embed Content.html (located at the end of the article)
  2. Open the document in a text editor program
  3. Replace the link currently in the template at line 26 with the link to your content
  4. Copy the full code
  5. Go to your lesson in the Course Management section of your dashboard
  6. Choose text as the content type for the lesson
  7. Click your cursor into the text box
  8. Choose the Source Code button in the text editor toolbar (looks like: < >)
  9. Paste the code you copied into the Source Code section and click OK.
  10. Save the lesson
