Integrating a Remote Proctored Exam

by Molly Barber

If you want to use a remote proctored exam in your training courses, we offer an integration with PSI as an additional add-on feature.

What is a proctored exam?

A proctored exam is when a student takes an exam while under supervision by an administrator which ensures the integrity of the exam results. A remote proctored exam is where the student is supervised remotely via camera, rather than in-person.

How do I get this feature?

First, please contact to discuss pricing to add this feature to your account.

Second, you'll need to set up your account with PSI and create your exam on their platform.

Once your account is created, we will need to do some configuration on our end which requires a PSI API Username and PSI API Key.

Lastly, once everything is set up, PSI will be a new lesson type in your account where you can input the Exam code.

How does this appear in Analytics?

PSI calls our API and confirms if the user passed or failed the exam, this is shown in Analytics -> Courses and is notated under the Success Status column.

  • If Passed, we show 100% progress and a Completed date.
  • If Failed, both the progress and Completed date are left blank. A student's course registration is all deactivated.
    • By default, users who fail a PSI exam will have an opportunity to register for the course again to re-take the exam.
  • Skilljar updates the Registration, Latest Activity and Completed dates based on the information from PSI.
