Create and Edit Builder Catalog Pages

  • Updated

Catalog pages on Skilljar help organize and deliver your content in more customizable ways.

Skilljar's new tool for building catalog pages is for customers who want to simplify the maintenance of their academy. You can create pages using Builder Pages or our Classic catalog pages

Builder Pages serve the same purpose as our Classic catalog pages, with a few enhancements. You can now build a page using blocks of content, so that you can better preview your page while you build in the editor.

URL: This is the web address of the page.

  • Use the default URL or customize your URL.

FAQ

Where is Search on my page? Where are my filters?

Those features are not currently available for Builder Pages.

Currently, you can use a Classic catalog page to create a search page. We encourage you to create a classic catalog page to contain your entire catalog of courses and pages, which is both searchable and utilizes filters. You can link to this “course catalog” on your home page.

To take advantage of Builder Page functionality, you can create a more streamlined experience for your learners. Start with catalog pages which have a small number of courses targeted at an individual’s learning needs. You can then use the Group Home Pages feature to create a home page based on an individual’s group designation. Learn more at Configuring Default Home Pages for Groups. Having a smaller number of courses per page helps reduce a user’s cognitive load.

Some of my fonts, catalog tiles, or colors on my Builder Pages don’t match my Classic Pages, how do I update these?

In order to help make page creation and customization easier Builder Pages are created in a new way, because of this some of your custom code snippets for your themes may not affect the elements on your new pages in the same way as Classic Pages.

Skilljar has done some work on your themes to approximate existing tile styles, fonts, and banner colors on your academy. Soon these settings will be available on your theme page.

If you have previously customized your tiles using custom code, it will not apply to these pages. If you have engaged technical services to customize your tiles, you can contact your technical services contact.

How do I add more space around the Catalog Tile Block, Announcement Blocks and Hero Image Blocks?

You can add a HTML content block and use the enter key to add several spaces between elements on the page. This creates a “spacer” block that you can use on your page wherever you need to add more space.
