Require Event Registration for Live Training Lessons

You can require your students to first register for a live training event(s) within a course at the time of purchase and/or course registration by enabling this setting in your course settings.

By default, the course-level setting “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” will require students who register for courses with instructor-led training (ILT) lessons to select and register for the specific event(s) they will attend as part of the course registration process.

Notes: 

Each ILT lesson needs to have at least one future session with at least one available seat in order for students to be able to register for a course.

If the "Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons" setting is enabled, students must first select an event and then register for that event before they can access the course. 

This default setting directs students to a confirmation page where they will be required to select the live training of their choice if multiple opportunities are available:

• For priced courses with an ILT lesson(s), students will be redirected to a checkout page, and upon clicking "Purchase" then will be redirected to a separate registration page to select and register for a live event(s) to complete their course and event registration.
• For free courses with an ILT lesson(s), the course registration process includes only the page that prompts students to select and register for an event(s) to complete their course and event registration.

Student experience for priced courses

Note: When the "Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons" setting is enabled, the student must select an event and then register for that event before they can access the course. 

For a priced course, students:

1. Click “Purchase” on the course detail page. They will be directed to a checkout page.
2. Select the correct "Quantity" from the dropdown.
3. Type and click "Apply" for a promotion code, if applicable.
4. Add purchase information, then click "Purchase." They will be directed to a live event registration page. Note: The screenshots above show the Stripe integration, so depending on your payment gateway, the purchase information section may look slightly different.
5. Click "Select Event" for the first live training lesson.
6. Select the event in the options displayed via pop-up modal.
7. Repeat for the number of live training lessons in the course.
8. Click "Register." Students are then redirected to the course curriculum page.

Note: When the “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting is enabled for a priced course and the student selects a quantity greater than one on the checkout page (i.e. bulk purchase), the section requiring event selection will be disabled and an explanatory message will be displayed: “When purchase quantity is greater than one, each student must register for their preferred event(s) individually.” 

Student experience for free courses

Note: When the "Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons" setting is enabled, the student must select an event and then register for that event before they can access the course. 

For a free course, students:

1. Click “Register” on the course detail page. They will be directed to a live event registration page.
2. Click "Select Event" for the first live training lesson.
3. Select the event in the options displayed via pop-up modal.
4. Repeat for the number of live training lessons in the course.
5. Click "Register." Students are then redirected to the course curriculum page.

When enabled, students will not be able to complete their course registration without registering for an event(s).

How to enable or disable instructor-led training (ILT) event registration

1. From the “Course Management” dropdown in the Dashboard left navigation bar, click “Courses.”
2. In the “Courses” table, click the course title for the course you want to edit.
3. Click the “Details” tab and scroll to the “Settings” section.
4. Click the plus (+) sign to expand “Settings” and scroll to the “Registration Actions” section.
5. Select or deselect the setting “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons.”
• When the setting is selected, if the course has Live Training lessons, students will be required to register for the live training event(s) when they register for the course.
• When the setting is not selected, if the course has Live Training lessons, students will not be required to register for the live training event(s) when they register for the course.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

Note: The “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” will be selected, and thus enforced, by default.

Frequently asked questions

Under what conditions will the “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting not apply?

The conditions under which the “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting will not apply include:

1. The “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting is not enabled, or
2. The “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting is enabled, however, the purchase quantity is greater than one, or
3. The “Register in Single Event Live Training Lessons” settings is enabled, however, the course/lesson/event structure falls outside of the supported cases.

What happens when both settings related to Live Training registration are selected?

• Enforce Event Registration for Live Training lessons

• Register in Single Event Live Training Lessons

When both the “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting and the “Register in Single Event Live Training Lessons’ settings are enabled and the course / lesson / event structure aligns with one of the two cases below, the event selection step will be bypassed:

1. 1 course / 1 ILT lesson / 1 ILT event per lesson structure 
2. 1 course / 2 or more ILT lessons / 1 ILT event per lesson structure  

Is the “Enforce Event Registration for Live Training Lessons” setting compatible with registering students via the “Manage Students” page of the dashboard?

If this setting is enabled for a course and you register a student via “Manage Students,” that student is not required to select events to complete their registration.
