Catalog Pages can be created and edited from within your Skilljar dashboard. In this article, we'll explain how to create a catalog page, edit an existing one, and provide some insight into the catalog page settings available to you.

Create a new catalog page
- Go to your Skilljar Dashboard, and select Domains & Publishing, or expand the Domains & Publishing header, and select Domains to open the Domains page.
- Find the domain you want to add to the catalog page to and select Catalog Pages. You’ll be redirected to the Catalog Pages tab that lists all of your existing pages. The house icon identifies your Catalog Home Page.
- Select New Page to open the new page settings.
- Update the Catalog Page settings. For more information. see the Understand Catalog Page Settings section below.
- When you're finished, select Save and Continue Editing or Save. Depending on your access and visibility settings, your page will now be available for learners to access.
Understand Catalog Page Settings
Summary
- Title: The title of your page will appear on the Catalog Page tile on your domain. It will also appear on the browser tab. Max character limit: 500 characters.
- Short description, optional: Describe what your catalog page is about.
- Add a short description to improve your search engine optimization (SEO).
- The short description is hidden by default on Catalog Page tiles. If you want the short description to appear on the Catalog Page tile, you can do so by adding a code snippet to the theme applied to your domain. Learn more: Customizing Your Training Site with CSS and JavaScript.
- Max character limit: 200 characters.
- URL: This is the web address of the page.
- Use the default URL or customize your URL.
- After your Catalog Page has been published, we recommend that you don't change the URL so that students can access the page successfully.
Content & Order
- Define which published courses, published paths, plans, and/or catalog pages will display on the page. Select content by clicking on the circle
- Define the order in which you would like those courses, paths, plans, and pages to be displayed. Drag and drop the content you've selected in the right column so it appears in the order you'd like on the page.
Display Settings
Customize your page's look and feel in the Display Settings:
- Header HTML: The HTML code to customize the header content for your catalog page.
- Add header content to introduce the content on the page:
- Max character limit: 100,000 characters.
- Full-width header image dimensions: minimum width of 1280px.
- Layout: Decide if you prefer Tile or List view:
- Tile view: Catalog items are displayed as tiles.
- List view: Catalog items are displayed full-width, one per line.
- Search Box: Enable Search and determine where the search bar is located:
- Display search box in the left nav.
- Display search box in the header.
- Do not display search box.
- Search behavior: Determine where the catalog page can be found when searched for.
- When the “Global Search” setting is chosen, the student can search for any course that is on a catalog page on the learning domain, visible to that specific student and on a catalog page that is visible to that student.
- When the “Local Search” setting is enabled, the Global Search requirements are still live, though the search will be limited to content that is held on that catalog page.
- Filters: Add filters to your page to help students find courses. Learn more: Adding Advanced Filtering to Catalog Pages, Published Paths, or the Live Event Calendar.
Tile Behavior
- Tile Image: The image you choose here will appear when you nest your catalog page on another page. The tile image on this page serves as your training domain’s preview image on social media channels. Minimum dimensions: 1280 x 720px
- Tile Callout: Add a tile callout that appears on the bottom corner of your tile. Max character limit: 15 characters
- Group Visibility: Choose who can see and access your catalog page. Learn more: Setting Visibility and Access for a Published Course, Catalog Page, or Published Path.
- Tags: Since Catalog Pages can be nested, or displayed on other pages, you may want to add tags or use existing tags to improve the discoverability of content. Learn more: Associating Tags to Catalog Pages, Learning Paths, and Live Training Events.
Location
Decide where you want to surface the Catalog Page:
- You can nest your new catalog page on as many other pages as you'd like.
- If you don’t want to nest it on any other catalog pages, the page will still be accessible via its direct URL.
Edit an existing Catalog Page
- Go to your Skilljar Dashboard, and select Domains & Publishing, or expand the Domains & Publishing header, and select Domains to open the Domains page.
- Find the domain with the Catalog Page you want to edit and select Catalog Pages. You’ll be redirected to the Catalog Pages tab that lists all of your existing pages. The house icon identifies your Catalog Home Page.
- Select the title of the existing catalog page you want to update.
- Update the Catalog Page settings.
- When you're finished, select Save and Continue Editing or Save.
