Using Nongraded Quiz Questions as Surveys

  • Updated

Nongraded quiz questions can be used to source valuable feedback and survey students after they have completed a lesson.

To learn more about how to make quiz questions nongraded so they aren’t included in the student’s grade, see Create and Manage Quizzes.

If you're currently using a code snippet to create surveys and would like to know more about moving to nongraded quiz questions, please reach out to your customer success manager.

Note: If your Skilljar dashboard organization was created before September 1st, 2022, your survey questions may still include the word, "quiz." If you'd like more neutral language, you can change the relevant strings in the language packs. See suggestions here.

You can choose to make quiz questions (excluding File Upload) as nongraded and optional from the quiz settings by selecting “nongraded” from the dropdown when managing the question.

Example: Linear scale questions can be used to gather answers on a scale, such as, “how satisfied are you with this experience on a scale from 1 to 5.”

To use the same survey in multiple courses, consider creating a Question Bank with the necessary nongraded quiz questions. This question bank can be reused in courses. The analytics will be viewable per course, even if the quiz is repeated. To read more about Question Banks, see Quiz Question Banks.

  • Note: NPS/CSAT scores will not be automatically calculated for survey questions within Skilljar Analytics (however, you can find the question/answer data within the quiz analytics page on your Skilljar dashboard). To calculate the scores, please export the data to a third-party tool.

Analytics

Responses can be reviewed on the “Quizzes” page of your Skilljar dashboard’s Analytics section and by selecting the quiz with the nongraded question.
